For anons that are into vintage horror and sci-fi art and stories from the early and mid 1950s it came to light on /co/ today that the first forty one issues of Journey Into Mystery (yes, the same comics where Marvel's versions of the Norse Gods came from) never renewed their copyright in 80s which makes them public domain. According to /co/ it's filled with stories on vampires, martians, time travel, ghosts, demons, Atlantis, Satan, mummies, and underground societies. If you want to sell or alter these then Disney/Marvel have no legal grounds. These would be perfect for the Halloween threads we have every year.

I thought of that list of comics that were supposedly in the public domain that one preportedly /m/fag raved about last night. I thought "Nah, no fucking way". I went to copyright.gov in their public records. After realizing Marvel switched from Canam to Atlas on their later titles I was able to look up the copyright numbers. Here's the results, it was real, only issues 42 through 48 are present. The first forty one issues of Journey Into Mystery really never renewed their copyright on time in the 80s. It wasn't just a string of Strange Tales.
