I'd recommend playing with a locked over-the-shoulder camera if you haven't already, and no map. There's some jank to it but it does feel much more engaging to me. Just, don't play a gimmick that requires you to recruit a bunch of chaff warriors. Five or fewer characters and it's good.

Would be nice. I think the way Kenshi currently handles objectives fits its concept well, where you're just given vague untracked directions and you find your own way between here and there with no real need to actual complete them, but if there was just more of that, it'd be great.

Absolutely. I'd love it if they added a bunch of learnable stances in 2 that alter your moveset and have different limb prioritisation, but we'll see what they end up actually doing.
