Yeah, you're not wrong. Honestly, I hate thinking about that whole plotline with the Gods because it pisses me off and it makes the FFXIV world so much less interesting.
It also fucks with every seasonal event and every questline where you're helping some poor downtrodden person and they're praying to this or that God like, "Uh, sorry... I helped them all commit suicide. My bad." Revealing your Pantheon is a dangerous move, killing your Pantheon off is just insane. I don't care that ARR had Gaius imply they were primals, Gaius was wrong about most things.
