Lets just say boomers had it really good their entire lives but especially when they were kids. It was like the best and easiest time to be born a human but that is gone now. If one dollar bought them 30 units of oils in 1965 it would only buy them 3 today. Energy animates life. What made their population "Boom" does not exist anymore. They consoomed it already but they still want it. They cannot imagine life any other way. It is not just boomers though. This trend is true for everyone who experiences less energy abundance as time progresses.
