Post USSR it was paperclipped Nazi collaborator Nationalists that were massively supported politicially in Canada, US and Australia that basically set the Post-Soviet National Identities of a lot of countries. The Baltics didn't even recognize the Holocaust until the mid 2010s and still build monuments to the Waffen SS all over the place to this day. Ukrainians tried to build a monument to the "Victims of Communism" half of the names on the monument were Waffen SS, and they wanted it placed in front of the Holocaust Memorial lmao. Australia has monuments to the Ustase all over the place.
Basically, the reality is, most of the people in these countries were fine being Soviet citizens and most of their culture was Soviet, so they needed to reconstruct a "post-Soviet" identity that rejected all the stuff people actually liked and the shared Soviet culture they grew up with and who were the Anti-Soviets generally? Nazis.
