Frankly it's just because Dragon Ball is a much more important verse to battleboarding than Gurren Lagann is. Goku is basically the face of powerscaling, arguably even moreso than Superman at this point. I have witnessed the meta of battleboarding shift in real time in accordance with Goku's own scaling meta.
