Freddy is the only one he likes because they have a fun brother energy between them. The "I give you permission to go downstairs" was a real good moment. I think sam soured on the rest of the cast completely during the rape of angela. I don't think he particularly cared about her, but he's actually a big softie and likes fairness so it really rubbed him the wrong way when he saw five people, including two retards, dogpile on the smallest girl in the tank. Even more so after she showed some fight and went down like a champ instead of a bitch. He gained respect for her and lost it for everyone else. He spent five hours playing mine craft in the cell half heartedly judging challenges because he only really gives a shit about freddy at this point. You could even tell at the closest time fred got to being kicked, when they were telling him off in the basement for stealing the pills, sam just laughed it off as fred walked away and pretended to take some fishbucks
