You're seeing it in black and white, where the only two options are noob and pro.
Modern controls tackle the issue with pic related, the gulf between the dudes who spent two hours in training mode last weekend and has the movelist memorized, and the casuals who maybe play it once or twice a month at a friend's house.
You will say:

But you have to remember that they don't need to do that for literally any other genre, they don't want to, and if you want them to play your game you either need to cater to that mentality (with things like modern controls) or just accept OP's pic.
