People always justify carnivores as “ecosystem managers.”
But in the Big Pine Key ecosystem, only deer remain.
There are no predators.
Population is regulated by starvation.
It works.
If the entire American continent had only deer, it would be a perfect ecosystem.
Because besides famine, there are CWD.
Slow entropy. Natural culling. No violence.
Conclusion: carnivores were pure evil. Always were.
