As a creative, Mare Fair gets me hyped up and inspired every year in ways that other bland cons simply do not. And I'm not just talking about the existing art getting me hyped up, I'm talking about all of it. The experience of the con itself.
If your idea of "culture" is strong socially-aware principles and not simply having a good time
shooting the shit with the lads and laughing at shared memes, more power to you - I won't judge what you care about - but you should at least connect the dots.
