Preciously. Its a huge problem in the game industry among AAA audiences, in my opinion. Their budgets are so inflated that they can't/wont take a risk on any formulas that haven't been proven recently. To me, the big thing is this leak in the picture from Jan 2025. The reason I'm leaning towards it being true is because the AI commander was true. Could be a lucky guess, but I can see the rest happening. So they want yearly releases where little changes and the want stupid skins. >>536262229 comment on the MMO aspect really resonates. You see it all the time right now. MMO tries to be like current popular mmorpg (WoW/FF14/Gw2/etc), fails because people don't see a reason to play it over the original.
BF needs to cultivate its own audience instead of trying to ride coattails. It seems like since Bf2, they haven't been quite sure how to handle the game given the titles track records. Where a lot of BFs either didn't sell well initially, or died so fast that they were viewed as failures from the live service perspective (Bf1, for example, sold well. But lost most of its players very fast). After they saw success with BC1/2 and its "mainline" iteration BF3/4, they kept going down the trend that those games started. And its failed for the past 12 years. They need to pivot.
