Because the sequel films were done with incompetent story telling. It's not like no one liked Captain Phasma, it has everything to do with wasted potential. She could have been the main antagonist for Finn across the films. The foundation was there, but incompetent writers who were planted by the egomaniac Kathleen Kennedy pissed it all away.
