having played with RQG it feels like it's a very kind of loose where it doesn't know what it wants to be
it wants to have the passions that RQ6 ported over from pendragon with a runes system, and at the same time it wants to be a more incoherent version of old RQ's combat system

RQ6 or mythras as it's known these days from a design level as a system knew what it wanted to be from the beginning
and then realized that it was versatile and capable of more things that still fit within it's design and purpose

also these days i don't fucking look at the special effects table anymore, new players only look at it some of the time
most of them understand that
choosing location, with bladed weapons causing blood loss with blunt weapons stunning, impaling with impaling ones, entrapping or locking with certain weapons, punishing on a defend overextending,
or in most cases with either an offensive or defensive roll tripping or closing reach is just something you can do with a special effect and a differential level of success
