I made a post a while back calling this exact moment for Furukawa with the next console after the Switch. It's still way too early to jump to conclusion, but the Switch 2 is looking to be underwhelming compared to the first. By 2027, going into 2028 I think we'll see if the Switch 2 is a success or if they're going to cut their losses and jump right into the next console.

This looks like the Wii U 2.0, only this time, the losses will hit them a little harder. Branching out to other mediums may be a precaution to the upcoming storm. Get ready for a lot of secondaries to swarm Mario and Zelda and you better hope a Smash film doesn't get announced.
