Early when it was still just Cave Story (by the author's own admission even) I would have said an analogue of pic related but it's diverted so much from the end of Idofront onwards that I can't be sure. Something bittersweet at least. I don't think it will end exactly like Star Strings but he'll probably reuse some stuff from that mech manga he gave up on along the way.
