poe is notorious for being one of the only arpgs to shy away from this stereotype, and not in a good or elegant way. Melee abilities and "warrior" type classes have no inherent tankiness present in similar classes in other games. They do, give or take, about the same damage as casters but have to fight in close range so their more likely to get killed. Their main form of defense, armor, is laughably bad as most bosses ignore it, and their second form of defense, health, doesn't have enough passives/uniques to really support it yet. Casters have energy shield, which is basically health but 5 times as good, and that's literally all they need lolololol. They have range, have more status effects they can apply with their skills, can use summons, etc. Making melee viable has been one of the biggest asks for poe2, but unless they just give inherent crazy buffs to melee abilities(take 20% less damage while using this skill. this skill deals extreme damage if you have a large amount of health, etc.), that shit ain't happening.
