I remember at the time, that section at the very start of the game where you're climbing up the side of something and have to move the analog stick over really baffled me. Never before had a Halo game taken control away from the player and put them on a linear path like that. It felt way too much like CoD. The signs were already there, and it just became worse from there. I think that Halo 4 was only as well received as it was because people had so much good faith for Halo at that point, and wanted to give 343 a chance. But as far as I'm aware, the multiplayer scene died out not too long after launch, and Halo fans were generally unhappy with there being too many changes all at once. It just didn't feel like Halo anymore at that point, and people were pretty divided on the story. I'll admit I had an emotional reaction to the ending at the time, but I genuinely cannot remember anything from it aside from that. Meanwhile all of Bungie's Halo games stick out pretty clear in my mind. What you're essentially saying is basically just "Halo 4 would have been good if it didn't have so many things that made it bad".
