I'm not going to read the rest of your post because this is an absolutely retarded take, and usually one given by the tryhard no lifes/minmaxers who ruined the game. A look at the sub graph will very quickly prove my point.
The second blizzard started catering to "hardcore gamers" the game started dying. Semi-casuals (aka the majority of the player base) want to be able to raid and clear the "hardest" content/difficulty, classic had its population peak in wrath naxx because it was easy clearable content by the entire player base. Then it fell off a cliff in ulduar when the content got hard.
