I'm not seeing a lot of improvement as of late. What's the key to getting, say, S maka rank over A+ or even S-?

In a previous thread an anon mentioned chess was "too digital", so he's coming back to mahjong. How can there be occult chess? When information is fully available to all players, where is the room for magic? And if there is such thing as "occult chess", who is the Sakurai of chess?
