@Andalussy i found this study from 2014 (DOI: 10.1007/s40279-014-0152-3) that shows that muscle protein synthesis is elevated in untrained and hypocaloric subjects after training up to 48 hours where it gets close to baseline levels, although in the first reference (the 1997 study) muscle breakdown is actually faster than synthesis at all times and net balance between them is negative because all subjects were also untrained and in a caloric deficit as shown in picrel.
With this considered if you had a subject on a bulk that trained only 2x per week should they only eat in a surplus for the 48h after training and stay at maintenance for the rest of the week, or should they just stfu and eat their food every day? Do you think I'm looking into this too much and that at maintenance or a surplus this wouldn't matter because muscle synthesis would outpace breakdown at all times anyways even after 48h?
