Genocide isn't the justifiable option past the bunker. Kazuya is warned by his best friend that killing demons will corrupt him because of his unique condition, yet keeps going until he loses his mind.
In neutral, no character says Kazuya is wrong for killing in self-defense or being angry at the demons, but rather the opposite. Even in genocide some of the humans and demons are understanding of his point of view at first. Every time Kazuya or the player gets called out for doing Genocide, it's a character's opinion. It's normal for them to panic or get angry when they're about to die or your actions set them back, it doesn't mean the dev thinks you're evil in real life for doing it.
The story about the dev getting angry at genocide players feels like people trying to make up another KC story of him hating fans or being on the side of the villains. The worst thing I've seen him say about genocide is that he regrets calling it a "route" because it gave the impression to some fans that it was mandatory.
