I played it for about an hour and it felt daunting. I have played the first one, quite a bit and will keep playing, but I'm probably gonna restart. Fucking necrocucks forwardsettled me. Gonna probably try the human faction before the coralfags. I like the visuals and am glad to see that the game is running smoothly on my dinosaur pc. I hope that persists through EA and full release. I like the new dialog you can have with minor factions instead of just a text box

Yeah, Id say you have quite alot to unlock. The game really opens up after the first seal and you start to unlock more buildings, and thus, playstyles. It will get more complicated with new mechanics, too, and infact there are some mechanics that are unlocked pretty late, that even I havent gotten to yet despite being technically halfway through the game. I wont spoil stuff unless you ask, but you unlock more buildings that match species specializations as you go on. Harpies are quite good once you know how to keep them happy! Everything is on dice rolls basically, but there are some things that are deliberately restricted so you wont get them if you dont have that species in that settlment. This is so you can actually make builds work. Basically you cant get a lizard house or their major service building if you dont have lizards, so your playthroughs should lean towards those races naturally. Also keep in mind that playing through resolve is fun but it can be quite difficult early on as you wont have as many options to provide for them, but those expand later on as you level up and unlock upgrades and stuff.
But yeah, take your time and play at the pace you have fun with! There's no need to play if you're not having fun! I think there is still pleanty for you to enjoy and I'm not just saying that because I'm a shill and have 1k+ hours into it lmao
