I agree with this. I loved it when it came out, it IS boring and easy (especially once you realize the shotgun is incredible if you treat it as a melee weapon) but the atmosphere and presentation are awesome. I can hear the gunfire and panicked screams of the radio during the first few levels in my head.

The flashlight complaints are overwrought, you only fight in total darkness twice in the game and both times you have a moving light source you are intended to stay near.

I prefer the more abstract eyeballs, glowing sigils and walls of fleshy faces presentation in the original games, but 3 is vastly superior to 2016 which just presents it as the Grand Canyon but more orange with barely any gore or demonic shit in it. The pit you maneuver around with the black balls of souls screaming out of it is cemented in my mind.
