Capeshit can have its place.
It should be a genre, not the entire industry. And frankly, it should be a niche genre, like super sentai or mecha. It shouldn't be the face of an entire medium.

But they've forced this reputation so hard that now most people are unable to even think of a comic that isn't capeshit.
If you ask people
>give me your ideas for a comic book
They just start rattling off ideas of masked crusaders stopping bank robbers and shooting lasers out of their fingers.
You don't get this kind of madness when you ask people what kind of movie they should make.
