Not how it happened in the manga. At least not at first. Chelsea and Luna were clearly in front of fort Senku when they got petrified, the bridge thing that's in front of fort Senku was clearly visible in the background. Which makes no sense whatsoever, which is probably why they changed it later.
Last week I was wondering about the timeline of the final battle and how come Luna and Chelsea were on some ledge thing all of a sudden and they got petrified first, so I skim-read this entire arc. Turns out it makes even less sense than in the anime, even though the manga skipped the shot that makes it look like Xeno and his men were way far from the fort.
>the petrification beam can't decide if it's coming from behind or in front of fort Senku (the latter option makes no sense in the context of the battle, dunno about the actual topography)
>the bridge in front of fort Senku can't decide if it's destroyed, partially destroyed, or whole. Sometimes it looks more like stairs, in the anime at least.
>Xeno, Senku, and Stanley seem to stand/lie in the exact same spot right in front of the tower before getting petrified
etc.
Even the 3 panels or so where Chelsea and Luna get petrified seem inconsistent, unless the anime skipped the part where they bolted trying to get away from the beam. And didn't the statues' expressions and poses change a little?
How are they staying upright anyway? IIRC only Xeno and Stanley were standing. And what are they smiling for? They all got gunned down by Xeno's men (except for Taiju, who was killed by a fucking grenade.) Where are Xeno and Stanley anyway? Did Suika hide them in the shed? These are rhetorical questions btw. It's obvious by this point that the story runs solely on vibes.
