the show itself was bad. There's a certain rhythm that mainline Nintendo Directs have that makes them satisfying, which other Directs struggle with. That's why despite the most recent Absolute State of Play was the best one, it still stunk. 3rd parties also lack the magic of 1st party Nintendo games have, so simply showing them isn't enough. Especially when they're rereleases.
