>It was Basil’s idea — he admitted it.
He didn't. He never said "hanging Mari was my idea." He said "forgive me" (vague as fuck, he's a "sorry for existing" kind of guy. At one point he apologizes to Sunny for burdening him with the photo album, like twice.) He also said that he will protect Sunny no matter what (anime cliche) and save Sunny again (still vague. Could be about the ruined photos, he mentions them. Or some imaginary schizo battle with the demon.)

I already provided it, here: >>536880284
Hint: it's the pic.

>How? Something was “born” after Basil staged Mari’s death and looked back at the tree. It’s more likely that he convinced himself after the whole incident that Something was there.
Sunny's something was born from hanged Mari. We don't know what Basil meant by something behind Sunny. Basil's "something" looks and works different than Sunny's. Can he really see Sunny's "something"? I don't think so. Before the fight, Basil only seems to notice his own something. When he said "there it is!" refering to Sunny's something there's nothing behind Sunny (I think?) and Basil's something appears instead. Then it catches Sunny with its tendrils. Sunny's something also appears at some point (when Sunny tries to leave, I think) but Basil doesn't seem to notice it.

There's a bunch of other "somethings" in the game, e.g. "something in the water" (which was based on seaweeds, I think) so they are not that unique. Maybe we never get to see what Basil sees. In any case it makes 0 sense for hanged Mari to push Mari off the stairs. So "something behind you killed Mari" makes no sense if Sunny and Basil see the same thing, unless he's saying Mari killed herself or there's an actual demon following Sunny around.

I feel like at this point I'm just repeating myself over and over and explaining obvious shit to no avail. This is getting tiresome so I guess I'm done here.
