>What the fuck else would constitute a revival
I think the problem here is that we're working off of two fundamentally different ideas of what a "revival" means in terms of genre. To me the term works exclusively in reference to the idea of bringing genres, series, whatever back from irrelevance, obscurity, or even outright death.
I don't believe JRPGs, games inspired by JRPGs, or even turn based RPGs in general were in such a crisis, hence why I don't believe E33 could be constituted as a revival of the "entire genre." Could it be called a revival of certain classic tropes like the aforementioned overworlds? Sure, and I would love to see more games bring those back - I've been replaying Tales of Vesperia recently and was thinking a lot about how much I miss that style of navigation.
>The kind of retards who are so irony drenched that the very idea of simple praise repels you
You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I don't have a problem with praise, what I have a problem with people inexperienced with a particular niche making uninformed statements about it after minimal exposure.
>you call everything overrated
I didn't call the game overrated. I literally just think some of the praise it's getting is coming from people who don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
>there is no game in existence that you would actually say earns heavy praise cause that's how you all are
I don't know where this generalization is coming from. There are plenty of games I adore that fall into the realm of critical/cult darlings (Nier, Xenogears, and Mother 3 are big ones if we're going to stick with JRPGs).
>That has nothing to do with the game itself and is a completely meaningless statement.
Good thing I wasn't cricizing the game but rather the people I described above. I don't hold FF7, Persona 5, or now E33 for attracting that group of people, but I think I'm justified in finding them annoying all the same.
