Im currently at security and it reminded me that the game doesn't really have any elements that make the game scarier to go out during nighttime past Office sector. Okay, to make the most out of Flathill runs without sneaking past the composer every time, you'll need 3-4 ramps and like 6 bridges
On the corn syrup factory side, go to the last table on the right and put a bridge down
Build as far out as you can
On the arcade roof, build a ramp then a bridge to get over the fence and then build a connecting bridge. Put a ramp so you can get back over the fence obviously
You'll be able to build almost all the way to the other bridge because the truck below counts as support
I like to put a ramp between the two halves so they easily connect

Already died at the first alien that comes crashing throw.

At least the consequences for death don't seem too dire.
Does that mean I shouldn't worry too much about running out of food/water in the initial area? I remember playing Grounded and just accepting that I would die from thirst and respawning.

Do enemies respawn? My idea would be to stack up, try to gather all resources put them in one spot, gradually learn recipes, craft the new things I can do, try to find containers or craft them so I can put anything useful around my crafting area.

Unless you find it in a sink or a water cooler, any source of water is tainted water. You start being able to create purified water by boiling tainted water in a pot on a stove, and eventually in the 3rd real location gain the ability to properly purify water instantly at a ratio of 1:1 tainted to pure.

You use lead belly to drink from bigger pools of water like the plaza fountain, the pool on level 2 office or any natural ponds.
The only source of clean water are from water coolers and sinks. Coolers are finite and sinks VERY slowly refill.

Grab few coolers and after you drink them empty, use them to carry dirty water from the pools to your base, where you can boil to purify.
Sadly one full pot of dirty water yields only 1/4 clean water. Until you get to cascade labs and build a water filter.

My only range weapon atm is a 9mm I found in a security office and my crossbow. I'm currently wearing the full set of the magazine armor. I feel like I'm walking into certain death. Should I just head on inside and start getting uppity or is there some upgrade I should get?

I'd recommend one or more of these:
-Leveling throwing, then building a Quantum Pick
-Getting a shotgun off the Order fags and upgrading it so it deals acid damage
-Upgrading your energy pistol to the laser pistol, requires a collector instead of charging pad to refill, but you can still hand-crank it too; needs 1x of the new nuclear item you gain the ability to craft at Reactors to upgrade into
-Building the Atomizer, also laser so build a couple collectors back at base; use its toggled alt mode!
-Build the Magbow and fucking upgrade it too for maximum sniping

A lot of their motives are speculation from GATE staff because they're shooting at them indiscriminately, the Order who have their own motives and lies from Cahn because he's trying to get you to do his bidding by passing as the good guy.

Whatever Keystone asked of them, if they asked anything, is unclear.
The timeline is that they chased after the Order to get the dark lens back, walked into Reactor through Hydroplant to shut them down to prevent access to Intrados (the reactors reacting badly was a side effect because they're not meant to be shutdown) and IS-0117, tried to hold out there to stop the Order or anyone else from restarting them, at which point they started shooting at GATE staff, when IS-0117 got released they panicked and went into damage control, entrenched themselves into Residential, and then tried to contain the dark lens who have been breaking reality apart.

I suspect their goal was much less selfish than you're told throughout the game and they were simply trying to stop (You) and IS-0012 from destroying the world.
There's no mention of GATE staff getting attacked by GKs until Reactor, and even Residential don't have any email or logs about it (which do talk about the Order raid), you do have known survivors talking about it but they're seeing things after the fact, I suspect the GKs started doing that because (You) let out a dangerous shapeshifter and they couldn't really trust anyone.
They were simply trying to contain the worse of the damage, but (You) broke into Intrados, freed IS-0117, they panicked, ran with the dark lens to the Residential Sector and tried to make a last stand there. They probably weren't planning to do anything with the dark lens, they were just trying to stop (You) from using it and letting Cahn interact with IS-0117, hence why the last GKs you encounter (beside the Unlosts) are much beefier than the regular ones. It failed, and you ended the world.

Manse pretty much sum it up:
>But if I must choose, I'd rather be cruel, than wrong.
It's very unclear how IS-0012 shapeshifting works, you're only ever told he's mimicking a dead GATE staff and you never really see him change to anything else, but then again you wouldn't know when a shapeshifter changed if you didn't see it happen.
That being said, even if he can only mimic dead people, there's quite a lot of dead people in Cascade by the time he's out.

You do realize this is your OCD forcing you to have anxiety over these things. You dont have to farm shit. You do it because you think you need to. If you bring soup and coffee with you and shit on the ground, you can explore for weeks in game

Every resource is essentially infinite thanks to portal worlds resetting (Not that the game doesn't give you enough resources without needing to do farming runs on them), the leyak problem is solved literally with just a glance, and the crafting bench stops enemies from spawning near your base. The game does not rush you at any point except maybe when you've picked up a bunch of radioactive shit and you want to go back to base before it starts piling up.

>Played dozens of survival games with friends and by myself
>Abiotic factor is BY FAR the easiest and most forgiving when it comes to survival mechanics
>Literally free food (or 1$ food) and water all over the facility, soup multiplies nutritional value of foods by like 2-4x, QoL things like still being able to move while overencumbered
>People are STILL complaining that it's too hard/tedious

This game is all the proof you need that some people are just horrible at games and too stupid to realize simple concepts like "Eat food before you leave and bring a snack" or "Make more than one of a thing if one isn't enough"

As long as it's only one(uno(1)) device connected to the makeshift battery, it'll just barely fall short which should be fine for most devices.

If you want to ensure full night operation, you can chain
>wall socket
>battery
>power strip
>battery
>device
to three devices from the strip for more oomph while not losing power to inefficiency that direct battery to battery chaining would introduce, though that would also cover one device and be simpler

I setup base in the closed off security section that has a huge window overlooking manufacturing, which has a shooting range in it, battery charger and coffee machine, locker room and bathroom with only one door entrance.

Anyone else use it?

yeah the security bots aren't a big issue at this point. Choppinator still works well, but electro thrower also just stuns them to death too. I can only think of three that spawn though. Are there any other locations?

The radiation you take from eating alien meat is miniscule and won't come biting your ass for good long while.
And once you cook enough meat, you learn how to make soups. Many soups use that radioactive meat, BUT won't poison you.

One behind fences in Hemholtz (where Tarasque is)

If there's more I haven't combed labs recently enough to remember them.
