I disagree. The idea behind the show is basically Pokemon/Yu-gi-oh with drawings. That sort of concept is already a proven successful formula and I think he could do a lot with it. The execution was just a touch convoluted. Pan's world is really well defined in his head, but he seemed to have forgotten that he needed to bring the audience in on it. He sort of jumps into the middle of an episode, info dumps a ton of lore via narration, and then blunders forward into a bunch of stuff we didn't need to see. All of that info was old news to him, but for most people it was brand new.
He needed a second set of eyes on the script from someone who wasn't familiar with his comics. And no, Daft PeƱis did not count. Considering how his animated short turned out, nobody should ever consult him for anything ever.
