I suppose going from Selune to Shar is easier than the other way around: and after all, Shart's story shows how jealous the Lady of Darkness is of her Stacy sister and how much she enjoys stealing her followers. I mean, she's really that petty.
Then Isobel's death played a major role in Ketheric's conversion to Myrkul, with Balthazar obviously having a hand in it.
Myrkul describes himself as "the beginning in the end," so I find it sensible that he welcomes without discrimination: eventually, everyone will end up returning to bones and ashes.
>I am the smile of the worm-cleansed skull. I am the regrets of those who remain, and the restlessness of those who are gone. I am the haunt of mausoleums, the god of graves and age, of dust and dusk. I am Myrkul, Lord of Bones, and you have slain my Chosen. But it is no matter, for I am Death. And I am not the end—I am a beginning.
DAMN it's a badass monologue.

Yeah...They are desperate people who find fulfillment in literally coping, I can see why they would worship her.
