That could be an interesting series. A colonized asteroid as the home which provides the minerals, water, and maybe fuel needed for travel and trade. Depending on the size of the asteroid and how long it would take to fully mine it, as well as location of other asteroids, colonizing a sufficiently big asteroid might be an interesting move.
