>but basically I liked NOTHING about the story past 2.4. I liked the characters and their designs and that's it.
>it felt like nothing was really happening and we were getting new zones and characters just for the sake of getting new zones and characters.
>I can barely remember anything from Augusta's and Iuno's quest. It was just very boring.
Completely agree, I think there was a sort of recency bias whereby people would say everything after 2.4 was 'peak' because what came before was 'peak' (in gacha terms at least). I did quite enjoy Iuno's quest though, it was better than the other ones after 2.4 at least.
>Didn't like the aesthetic of ANY of 2.X either to be completely honest. I don't hate the concept of the threnodians. 1.X was about a Threnodian too and I like that one.
But then again this is all just my personal opinion. I'll be content as long as we move away from fantasyslop back to sci-fislop. I'm sure that will alone will lead to everything getting better.
I understand why some people (not me) would dislike the fantasy aesthetic, and I like sci fi stuff, but only when it's made by white people. Let me explain. White people made Mass Effect, Bioshock, Stellaris, Fallout, Cyberpunk, and many other sci fi games that are all, indisputably, science fiction, yet ALL of them have their own, very distinct aesthetic. Now compare this with all the east-asian sci fi games that are popular: pretty much every sci fi gacha game (ZZZ, wuwa, GF2, etc etc), Stellar Blade, and uhh probably some other singleplayer games I haven't heard of. These all look very close to eachother in terms of stylistic choices and just general 'mood'; tacticool, high technology, high mechanical, gritty, practical. At most they all look like they could be seperate areas of the SAME game (given some art/model standardization of course). All this to say that white devs are just better at creating creative sci fi worlds that don't feel as contrived. Thanks for reading my blog.
