This wasn't really an "axe" in the usual sense, but I always thought The End of Goldfish Kingdom came about a decade too early. It missed the era of Twitter following and self publishing and even pixiv, and yet still managed to be a huge viral success in its heyday. If the author released it in a time when it could have been profitable too, I wonder if he wouldn't have dropped it.

Or maybe it would have just been lost in the wave of all the other online artists trying to go viral in this time, and never would have caught fire at all.

Or maybe the author's just dead. Iono.
