I'm doing something similar but it's an ocean biomes only world, the first couple of in game weeks was rough but eventually I found some bamboo in sunken ships and a trader came by with oak saplings. Kinda set up well now after finding some potatoes and a mending rod in a ocean ruin chest, dies a lot to trident drowned but that's just how it is. There was a chicken jockey under ground so I brought the chicken to the surface, just need to find another and I think you can breed them so that the baby chick will then lay eggs when it grows up? Got myself a sniffer pet too

Also interesting to note I'm currently in a lukewarm biome so I guess the chicken the jockey rides spawns based on the biome. So if I sail to a frozen ocean I'll probably find a cold biome chicken jockey

Taking my time with this world, it's slow going from normal play but fun. It took me a couple of hours to find this island from spawn but it had a shipwreck on and I had to make it my new set up
