I don't even think wound popping would have been that bad if it didn't inherently flinch the monster too. Then you could get your ass kicked for trying to pop a wound at the wrong time since it puts you in a lengthy animation. Old Monhun would've done the gimmick like that, anyway.
Then they added fucking blue wounds to the "harder" monsters on top of that for guaranteed topples too. The fuck were they thinking?
