There were TWO villains (a mob boss and a mole) that the good guys knew about and had prior experience with. With the former, they never bothered to alert the authorities or warn Jewel when they had plenty of time to do so, and the latter could have been easily exposed by talking with their teammates and simply removing their gloves in front of everybody.
This is due to Evan not having the brainpower to figure out how to make the villains look smart without dumbing down the heroes, really. And what's baffling is that she's STILL writing for the comic when I assumed she got reassigned to Lore Artist to subtly get her away from the writing script while Ian cleaned up her mess. Looks like I was half-right.
