>I feel like the addition of traditional artillery emplacements would really dominate
I would be disappointed if they didn't add them, the problem is that currently ground force just follow the roads, even if you added the artillery position manually, that would just mean shooting down the artillery so your ground force aren't wasted.
Plus between Himars 300km range or CAESAR hitting ~60km away you'd cover the entire map.
If I had to imagine the future of warfare, artillery would rule, airspace would be forbidden, everyone would move with anti-drone AI turrets and the trick would be to overload the turrets to the artillery.

If you must know, the setting's fusion-reactor emit magic particle that fuck up unshielded electronics, radars and even blur visual light.
It's not perfect I know, in that scene the tank is trying to keep the giant robot with better sensors from locking it.

Now if the Hildorf was mass-produced...

>this series was way more fun when it was about wunderwaffles that didn't work
I disagree, you can only go so far with the silly wunderwaffe, I would gladly see the already silly unit depicted in battle, like the infamous Magella attack flying turret, or the Gopp fighter, or those flying fortresses.
