I strongly recommend starting Armored Core 1 with a build I like to call "the cheap shit special". sell every part you have and copy this exact build.
rebind the controls to be like
face buttons, like triangle = turn the AC
directional buttons = move and strafe
boost on L2, fire weapon on R2, melee on R1, change weapon on L1

congratulations, you just utterly skullfucked Armored Core 1 into oblivion
