NTA, but as someone who sincerely felt that way as a kid, after about season 2 things just felt like a very different vibe.

I think people who liked the after ~Season 3 direction the show took wanted more of a lore heavy, world building, character driven show whereas my ilk preferred like the more whimsical off beat jokey heavy direction.

The whole "Kill the chaotic neutral ant" gag in the Enchiridion episode was some of the funniest cartoon dialogue I had heard in recent memory at the time, up there with some of the best spongebob moments imo. Contrast that with the more drama laden vibe the series ended up taking it never hit higher than a mid episode of avatar to me.
