Before that, you get lore dumped then dealing with travelling mechanics BEFORE you get to your first fight. The start would have let you to believe this was a VN or something. I think most players would have immediately dropped it then.

Compare that to DD where you already got a good grasp on the story while immediately jumping in the fight at 4 minute mark.
