If you're confused now, at least in terms of lore echoes aren't the only pets. Calcharo uses a TD (not an echo), and Baizhi uses a remnant creature (TDs, echoes and shorekeeper are all remnant creatures which is the general term for all beings created from remnant energy). Cosmos and Cloudy are the manifestation of encore's forte, something different as well.

Gameplay-wise it's dmg type is whatever the developer decides, and works as a secondary attribute for buffing. Basic and Heavy are the best because sanhua and mortefi are really good f2p options.
