Indie devs in 2010's already confirmed Steam stopped giving you free marketing long ago. Which means 100% of the sales you get on Steam are driven BY YOUR OWN MARKETING. So you have paid for this marketing in time or money anyway, just to get a sale on Steam. That means you're literally giving away 30% of your game FOR ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER. Unless you're into gambling and hoping to trigger that Steam Boost, which again requires very specific levels of success in huge bursts at specific times, followed by consistent sales every single hour after that initial hit. You have to BOTH have a strong marketing strategy, pay a ton in marketing, AND get lucky / not unlucky just to get a small boost that MAY last for more than a single day MAYBE.
Now if those indie devs are wrong, and Steam DOES give you free exposure, that's different. However, if that's the case then you're AGAIN retarded for not FIRST soaking up 100% of your marketing on your own website and THEN LATER soaking up the extra steamcucks. It's not an either/or.
There is only ONE circumstance in which NOT being Steam exclusive harms you, and that's specifically based on Steam's algorithm, which is so hard to trigger you will constantly hear extremely successful indies not even benefit much from it. Making it again - a huge
See the comment.
Btw second part of the comment implies Steam doesn't just rob you of 30%. They also make YOU pay VAT, when you're not supposed to. The CONSUMER is suppose to pay VAT, and that IS how it works off steam.
>VAT
That's another 15% or whatever the fuck it is, that Steam screws you out of.
So you're literally giving Steam 1/3rd of every sale for no reason AND 1/2 of every sale in the EU.
