My boss, who has a long history of getting big fat paychecks but always being penniless, asked the junior trainee at work about crypto and other investments today.

The good news is that he did not ask me because I am not good at lying. It's good to know I am flying under the radar. Maybe he thinks I'm a poorfag though surely he must realize I make a lot more than I'm spending.

It's pretty wild that the US economy, and by extension the world economy to a large degree, are so reliant on these amateurish situations if you think about it.

They knew about the revised jobs data at least a few days in advance, they didn't discover them that morning. Why doesn't the Fed know? Why does the Fed even discuss rate cuts before the jobs data is published? Do they not talk to each other?

When I buy local stocks, the bank deposits them to the central bank under my name.
But when I buy foreign stocks, including ETFs, those are under the omnibus account of my brokerage. Then the brokerage knows who owns what.

It's probably even worse with new age brokers like Revolut or Robinhood. You may not own anything at all.

The short answer is, you have to trust the system to work because if this trust fails, the whole thing comes crumbling down and nothing you do matters. It's the end of the world.
