Honestly I rarely give them a chance the first time anymore. I'm extremely jaded. I don't give something a chance if nobody is praising it and even if everyone is praising it I don't think it's garunteed to be good because most people are redditors.
The only things i give a chance these days are things that tickle my very specific brand of autism.
Example:
Helldivers 2: I love coop games, games where you play as a dominating force against lower life forms, etc.
Palword: Pokemon with guns is cool
Symphony of War: I like strategy games.

Honestly things fumbling isn't a deal breaker at all for me if the core concept is still something I like and can't get anywhere else. Serious Sam has fumbled the ball multiple times and I will still buy every single game that comes out and play them multiple times because I just love the core gameplay, and even when it's loaded with bugs like SS4 was it's something I can't get anywhere else.

Basically i'm a special snowflake.
