First saw your stuff at /mlp/con recently, it's a great idea!
as someone afflicted with the knifetism i'd prefer if it was one from the regular spyderco lineup, like its equivalent the Endura or something else available with stainless scales. Delica, possibly Dragonfly or Cricket. The smaller size might help not spook some people.
Just feels more like a true high-value collector's item to me when it's made in japan or america instead of china.
As an alternative top offer from other brands there's the Case Executive (USA) and the all-stainless CRKT Pilar (CN), (and stainless-handled higonokamis from japan, but their handles are very slim in shape which might not be ideal). The shape of these is also perhaps less polarizing than spyderco's more unconventional design. And they're cheaper in the acquisition.
In any case adding like 50-70 bucks to the inital price of the item seems reasonable to me. but I don't know how much time is put into each so I cant really judge if that's a fair pay for your work, and what people are willing to pay. IIRC the one on your site was $250 and i feel that's a bit too high, especially since it's one of the Byrd line. I mean, add another hundred bucks and you can buy a Santa Fe Stoneworks spyderco, and those guys are on a WHOLE nother level.
I'm surprised about the green color, far as I know there's no green in the annealing colors of steel so how is this achieved?
One more idea I had for AJ specifically and quickly made a mockup of is pic related. A buck 112 with her cutiemark at the back. I think it fits perfectly
>made in america (a good thing in general, and fitting for AJ)
>it's called BUCK
>it's a proper old-style, working man's knife, and an absolute classic at that
>an object of the sort she feasibly could've been given by/inherited from her parents
>wood and brass, warm comfy colors
>cutiemark on the butt end like on a pone
>it's also a bit more subtle of a pony ref, which some might prefer
i chose the 112 because the 110 is xboxhueg (perhaps made-to-order with Big Mac's CM?) and even heavier. the 112 is too but a more managable size. there's even smaller, less bulky ones like the 55, the Prince and the Squire, but they're less iconic. they also dont come with a leather sheath (which would, by the way, not rub on the engraving much) like the 112 does.
I don't know if brass can be heat annealed to make the markings red or green
