I watched Closed Curtain and No Bears this week. Gotta be honest, I disliked both (and the woman next to me fell deeply asleep during the screening of Closed Curtain). I wanna hate on modern Panahi but I know I'll be shouted down because "muh dissident filmmaker". I thoroughly respect him as an individual, maybe even an artist, but I thought these films largely poor, even accounting for the circumstances he is making them in.

I dump tremendous amounts of cash into low-cost index funds that follow the US and International stock markets. I follow the Boglehead philosophy of investment, essentially. I do this so that I may retire as soon as possible. It is said that the Roman emperor Diocletian abdicated from his position in favor of growing cabbages at his lavish palace. I wish for about the same. I have a gf, I have the STEM job, I've come to terms with who I am as a man in terms of what I love. I just want to settle down in a rural area with lots of trees and work the soil. Maybe adopt a kid or two; alternatively, impregnate the gf once I make her my wife if she's down for that. Give me the simple life, oh lord...
