This is a braindead criticism. Some of the greatest contemporary shows and movies are based on concepts written years of not decades prior.

Name one Glitch show where that happened. Even Gaslight District as much as I hate how style over substance it is in terms of writing still is memorable for the characters, world, and animated action set pieces.
