Job satisfaction, money, fun... STEM is the way of the white man. I get to do interesting experiments and build all kinds of interesting stuff, my work actually helps people, i get a lot more money, and i really enjoy my work. I also get to travel and meet all kinds of interesting autists. STEM is just cozy. I met my wife at uni, i met a lot of like minded people, most of us are really racist which is fun, i play DnD with my coworkers or people i had classes with, i ended up with some really interesting hobbies in large part because of stem... i just like it.
I have worked shit jobs before all this, and i can say from expreience, if the place is shit, if you hate doing it, money doesn't really matter. You won't be happy.

That is retarded. Videogames are like any other meaningless passtime, no better or worse. Reading, drinking, going out with friends, playing videogames, kicking around in your pool, hiking, pretty much any hobby... all this is ultimately pointless, beyond having some fun and relaxing a bit. But relaxing is important. If you just work all day, you are a slave.
But ofcourse it can be used as something of a sedative, if all you do all day is play videogames or any of the others above, you are useless. But if you do something to relax after a good day, that is good.
In my free time i some times read, some times i'll watch a movie with my wife, or some times i'll play videogames either withy my wife knitting or crocheting next to me, or i play with her. Or we play DnD together. Mostly afer the baby has gone to sleep. I don't see how this could be related to my income. Is i that it is a cheap hobby? I mean sure, but i have some expensive hobbies too, like astro photography. But some times videogames are what i find fun.
Yout point is not 100% without merit, but i think it is a gross oversimplification.
