Deltatroon is a mascot-horror game. It isn't in the same field as Cave Story or Touhou Project, it stands more comparatively to Garten of Banban, Hello Neighbor, and Fights Nights at Freddy's. This is also why there is such overlap with who is a fan of the games. The gameplay itself is a secondary goal (just like the creator is with shmups who instead of playing them, watched Youtube longplays) the primary goal was creating mascots. This is why the bullet-patterns are downright awful or overly simple, it's someone imagining what a shmup is like rather than playing them himself and why nonsensical bad mechanics are in it such as grazing (which has no reason to be there) or the poorly thought-out hitbox. This is also why anyone who enjoys shmups at more than a fandom-level don't enjoy Deltratroon / Tale. Personally, they would be more enjoyable if they embraced Warioware-styled microgames instead

It's genuinely baffling

Toby has found himself with a series with very wide appeal, far beyond the usual hardcore gaming crowd yet he keeps insisting on catering the difficulty purely to hardcore gamers

I already went over this given that I have friends who can't even get into the game properly because they can't get past the bullet hell gameplay but rage quitting myself really does give a better perspective

Like he doesn't have to make every chapter more difficult than the last, there are way more people waiting eagerly for each chapter for the fucking story than there are people waiting for what more difficult boss is coming next

And I thought with this whole secret boss thing, maybe it was a step towards kinda satisfying both crowds but no, he's putting this into the main story

And the worst part is that even without the punishing difficulty, it's not that fun, across Chapter 4, the fight just haven't been fun at all

An assist mode would do wonders here, fucking Celeste has an assist mode and that game is fucking commited to being a tough as nail platformer

Why did Toby Fox make this game so hard? I know UT/DR combat is supposed to be inspired from autistic bullet hell games for virgin jap losers, but it's not ACTUALLY supposed to be that way, just a shitty pretend easy version of it.
